BIG SUMMER ENERGY

It’s magnetic confidence. It’s swagger. It’s that je ne sais quoi. Hard to define, but impossible to ignore. It’s the perfect balance between standing out and feeling at ease, where personal style meets collective comfort. It’s that effortless energy that comes alive in summer—bold, fun, and completely your own.

This spring, UGG and Monar bring Big Summer Energy to the Antwerp Art Weekend. Inviting art students and young artists to spark something bold. Effortless. Vibrant. Golden. Feels like UGG.

Jeanne Dresse

Jeanne is a 22-year-old graphic design student in her final bachelor year at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Originally from a small town in the French-speaking part of Belgium, she has always been drawn to multicultural environments and interdisciplinary artistic practices. Her academic path took her to Brussels, Antwerp, and most recently to Spain.

"I love collaborating, connecting with other creatives. Still exploring who I am as an artist — but I know I’m drawn to projects that are a mix of artistic practices, personal, and question norms."

As an artist, Jeanne is passionate about visual expression, especially through aestheticism and material experimentation.

"I’m a manual learner, curious about all artistic disciplines — from photography and fashion to graphic design."

Jeanne about her work for Big Summer Energy:

“Insolente” is an editorial photographic series where I explore the notion of femininity and masculinity in a casual way. Fashion has always been a way for me to express myself and to feel good about my body. Some days I dress more feminine, other days more masculine, and I’ve noticed how that changes not only the way people treat me, but also how I see myself and interact with the world.

And in a broader sense, I think gender norms and clothing stereotypes affect many people’s life experience. This series is a photographic research about the pressure to fit into societal expectations of appearances and gender. These images are me being fully myself: feminine, masculine, confident. For me, this is about taking space. It’s about not being afraid to be seen. I made the photos myself, and it’s probably the first time I feel that much like me in my art.

Jorne Scholiers

Jorne is a Visual Design student at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent. For this project, he has been working on a photo series that he believes has the potential to grow beyond its original context of a school assignment.

In this series, Jorne merges multiple photographs into layered, detailed, and slightly abstract compositions. The results are energetic, bold, and visually dense, a reflection of his creative style, which is best described as experimental, abstract, and busy.

Jorne is inspired by areas where structure and chaos overlap. These works invite you to look closer and keep discovering new details.
